Splenda Linked To Cancer and Other Dangers – Find a Substitute Immediately!

In case you are one of those who have included Splenda into their diet thinking they’re doing their health a favor…you may want to reconsider that.

The brand name for this artificial sucralose is Splenda, and it has been popping up everywhere as a healthy alternative to sugar.

But that couldn’t be farther from the truth. In fact, it has been connected to cancer, in particular to leukemia. This according to the Ramazzini Institute and the research it has conducted.

This discovery was first presented at a cancer conference in London back in 2012, and the “safe” category of Splenda was changed to “caution”.

But now that this study can be read by everyone since it was published in a journal, the category changed once more to “avoid”. And with good reason.

Increased Cancer Risk in Mice

Researchers had begun feeding mice Splenda even prenatally and continuing on, slowly increasing the concentration of this artificial sweetener. The result was an increase in tumor growth among male mice. The higher the dose, the higher the risk.

Doses ranging from 2000 ppm to 16000 ppm contributed particularly to an increased risk of leukemia among those male mice.

And while many more studies need to be conducted (in order to obtain results which don’t contradict with any others), this is still an alarming discovery. Especially if one considers that millions expose themselves to this sucralose.

CSPI (The Center for Science in the Public Interest), the one who claims Splenda should be avoided, finally got it right after a decade. Still, it’s best to take this organization and its guidelines with a grain of salt.

The reason? While they warn people against artificial sweeteners like Splenda, saccharin, and aspartame, they still claim that drinking diet soda is safer than drinking the regular kind. They couldn’t be more wrong.

And “thanks” to smart marketing, more than 4,500 products contain Splenda. Which, as you may guess, makes is hard for those who wish to avoid it at all costs.

It is exactly due to this smart marketing that it has somehow obtained the reputation of being much safer than any other artificial sweetener, when that is not the case.

Moreover, Splenda is supposedly passed right through your system, but according to the animal-conducted studies so far, at least 15% of this sucralose is stored in one’s body and absorbed into one’s digestive system.

Splenda Endangers Your Gut Bacteria

As you will see in the video above, Splenda has an extremely negative effect on one’s microbiome. Which is just another reason to steer clear from it, in case the cancer warning wasn’t enough.

Not only can it wreak havoc on the gut bacteria, but that also means it can cause many consequences to one’s general health. The Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health had published an animal study.

In it, it turned out that Splenda not only has the ability to reduce as much as 50% of the beneficial bacteria found in the intestines of a rat, but can also raise the pH levels. Which is never a good thing, to be sure.

Additionally, it seems to have an effect on glycoprotein, which in turn affects how one’s body metabolizes certain drugs. But this just appears to be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the negative side effects Splenda has up its sleeve.

Possible Neurotoxic Effects

Certain research which was published back in 2014 suggested that Splenda may indeed have neurotoxic properties. What it did was research the oxidative effects it has, and the findings were disturbing.

Researchers took it upon themselves to assess the side effects on water fleas. What researchers had to say was that the exposure to sucralose might induce oxidative and neurological mechanisms, which in turn may have dire consequences for the physiology and behavior of both humans and animals.

Which only further stresses how very crucial it is to discover the effects of Splenda sooner instead of later.

What’s frightening is that the chemicals have already been found in a large number of surface waters and municipal effluents not just here in the U.S. but in Europe too.

It Can Raise Insulin Levels Too

That’s right, it would seem that Splenda also has an effect on one’s insulin response.

The proof comes from a study where participants who consumed beverages containing Splenda, had 20% higher insulin levels. Their blood sugar levels had also peaked at higher levels than usual.

So, in other words, this toxic artificial sweetener is more than just something you put in your mouth without having to worry about the consequences which are bound to follow.

And you don’t have to be prediabetic or diabetic to be concerned, as it has an effect on everyone.

Sucralose may have a long-term effect on how our bodies process sugar in general. Which is why they need to conduct many more studies as soon as possible.

It Tricks Your Metabolism

You might be familiar with the process. Once you consume something sweet your brain’s response is to release dopamine, which in turn activates its reward center.

But leptin, (which is the hormone which regulates appetite) is also released. It informs one’s brain that one is full, after they’ve ingested a specific amount of calories.

But here’s the thing: after one has ingested something sweet but non-caloric (an ideal example being an artificial sweetener), your brain cannot tell the difference and so it still activates its pleasure center.

But since the calories don’t arrive in the first place, there is no ‘fullness-hormone’ to deactivate it. In other words, such artificial sweeteners trick one’s mind into believing that it’s getting sugar aka calories.

But since those expected calories never arrive, neither does the feeling of fullness, and so your body keeps on signaling it wants more. This results in unhealthy cravings for carbs.

So, even though one is trying to lose weight by turning toward such sweeteners, most of the time they end up gaining even more weight due to all those unsatisfied cravings. The irony is practically palpable.

Are There Any Truly Safe Alternatives?

We understand that while you are trying to maintain your health, you still wish to enjoy something sweet without having to worry about the consequences. And since what you thought was the answer, artificial sweeteners, isn’t…where else can you turn to?

Well, there may indeed be some healthy options for you out there. Namely: Luo Han Guo and Stevia. You can usually find Stevia in supplement form. It is entirely safe for consumption and adding to any food or drink. It comes from South America.

Similar to this is the Luo Han Guo (or Luo Han Kuo), even though it is harder to obtain and more expensive.

As its name might suggest, it stems from China. In fact, the Chinese have been using the Luo Han fruit as a sweetener for many centuries. And it is as much as 200x sweeter than sugar!

Breaking Your Artificial Sweetener Addiction

The best thing to do is get rid of your sweet tooth. After all, it is the cause for you reaching out toward artificial sweeteners, to begin with. There are plenty of ways to kick this unhealthy addiction, one of which is a technique called turbo tapping.

Many former soda and sugar addicts praise it for helping them get over their addiction. Other things you can try are:

  • Exercising – anyone who has already gotten into the habit of regular exercise will tell you that it is one of the best methods for getting rid of any sugar cravings. Many claim their appetite, especially their cravings for something sweet, seem to diminish after a proper workout. It may be due to the decrease of insulin which occurs after you’re done exercising.
  • Black, organic coffee – both the decaffeinated and caffeinated versions of coffee contain cafestrol – a compound which can bind to one’s opioid receptors and occupy them, thus successfully decreasing one’s addiction.
  • Sour taste – like the one we find in cultured vegetables, can also potentially decrease any sugar cravings. But there is another plus, since fermented vegetables are also great for improving one’s gut health. Another option is to try adding lime or lemon juice to your drinking water.
